Why Video Conferencing doesn’t work…

is something that perplexes me.

Technology wise everything is in good order. Internet connection speeds are fast enough in most places that the people on either end of the call both have fair access, cameras are reasonable res, audio is mostly clear… but even with all users set up perfectly I come away from a lot of the calls we facilitate feeling the results weren’t great.

And i think its to do with etiquette.

We haven’t established a working etiquette for people on conference calls so they can all participate equally. Or at least in the function they have joined the call on.

I guess the question is can we establish ‘protocols’ for these kind of web exchanges that work and enable active participation from all users?
